Kerala Trekking FAQ
Everything trekkers usually ask us before their first trek with KeralaTrekking.
Getting started
I have never trekked before. Can I join?
Yes. Many of our trekkers are first-timers. Start with an easy trek. Our trek leads plan for every pace in the group.
Can I join alone?
Absolutely. Plenty of people come solo and leave with new trekking friends.
Are your treks suitable for women, families and older trekkers?
Women, families, homemakers and older trekkers join our treks regularly. Tell us about your group and we will suggest a suitable trail.
Can children join?
It depends on the trek and the child. Some forest treks have age rules set by the Forest Department. Message us with the child's age and we will advise.
Booking & payments
How do I book?
Message us on WhatsApp at +91 88489 27969 with your preferred date and number of people. We confirm availability and send the booking link.
Do I need a permit?
Some treks, such as Agasthyarkoodam, need Forest Department permits with limited slots. We tell you what is needed and what details to keep ready.
What happens if a trek is cancelled?
Terms depend on the trek and the reason, for example weather or Forest Department closures. Please read our Refunds & Cancellation Policy before booking.
Can you arrange a trek for our group on a custom date?
Yes, for most treks. See our Group & Custom Treks page or message us with your group size and dates.
On the trek
Is pickup included?
It depends on the trek. Pickup points, timings and inclusions are listed on each trek page.
Is food included?
Inclusions differ by trek and are listed on each trek page. Always carry some snacks and water of your own.
What should I carry?
Good grip shoes, water, light snacks, a rain layer and any personal medicines are the basics. See our packing list for the full checklist.
What about leeches in the monsoon?
Leeches are common on wet forest trails. Long socks, closed shoes and a little salt or leech-repellent help. They are a nuisance rather than a danger.
Is there mobile network on the trail?
Coverage is patchy or absent on many forest trails. Share the trek details with family before you leave.
