Detailed Itinerary
- 05:15 AM – Pickup from Thrissur Railway Station: Meet the KeralaTrekking coordinator and drive towards Athirappilly.
- 07:00 AM – Reach Athirappilly and breakfast: A quick breakfast near the Athirappilly Waterfalls entrance.
- 07:30 AM – Trek begins: Safety briefing and start of the 9 km forest trek with the Vazhachal Forest Division guide.
- On the trail: Nadukani View Point, one of the largest natural teak trees in the forest, and a view of Athirappilly Waterfalls from the opposite side. Lunch, water and snacks are provided during the trek.
- 03:30 PM – Trek ends: Return to the Athirappilly entrance after the forest department's trek programme of about 8 hours.
- 05:30 PM – Reach Thrissur: Drop at Thrissur Railway Station.

Who can join this trek?
Anyone with a reasonable level of fitness can join. Previous trekking experience is not required, but participants should be comfortable walking for several hours on uneven terrain.
Are beginners allowed?
Yes. Many first-time trekkers successfully complete this trek. Our trek leaders will guide the group throughout the journey.
What should I carry for the trek?
We recommend carrying a small backpack, water bottle, rain jacket or poncho, trekking shoes with good grip, a change of clothes, personal medications, and a power bank.
Is there mobile network coverage on the trail?
Mobile coverage may be limited or unavailable in some parts of the trek. Please inform your family and friends accordingly.
What happens if it rains?
The trek operates during monsoon conditions unless weather or forest department restrictions make it unsafe. Participants should come prepared for rain and wet trails.
Are meals included in the Athirappilly trek?
Yes. Breakfast and lunch are included. Evening tea or coffee and any extra snacks on the way back are on your own.
What is the cancellation policy for the Athirappilly trek?
If you cancel more than 15 days before the trek, you get a 70% refund. Between 7 and 15 days, you get 25%. Within 7 days, there is no refund, but you can transfer your seat to a friend or family member at no extra cost, subject to approval. If the trek is cancelled because of weather or forest department restrictions, you get another date or a trek credit. Full details are in the Fees section.
Is there an age limit for the Athirappilly trek?
Yes. The forest department allows trekkers aged 12 to 60 on this programme. The trek is long and rated hard, so you should be comfortable walking for several hours on uneven forest trails. Every trekker must carry an original photo ID (Aadhaar, voter ID, passport or driving licence).
Are forest permits included in the package?
Yes. All required forest entry permits and permissions are included in the package cost.

- KeralaTrekking reserves the right to modify the itinerary or schedule based on safety and operational requirements.
